Other names for this bill

This bill also is referred to as the FAST Act (acronym for Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act).

Prior to the final name, it was called the Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2015.

It previously was called the DRIVE Act (acronym for the Developing a Reliable and Innovative Vision for the Economy Act).

This bill replaced S-6147, an identical bill.

HR-22 had passed the house as the Hire More Heroes Act with different text. The Senate replaced the text with language for the transportation bill.
