Coronavirus economic relief
This bill provided economic relief to individuals and companies affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Provisions for individuals
Gave $1,200 to each American with an income less than $75,000
Provided 39 weeks of additional unemployment insurance plus $600 per week of "Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation".
Delayed student loan payments
Made it easier for Medicare patients to recieve medical care.
Imposed a moratorium on evictions for tenants who couldn't pay rent due to the pandemic. It also provided for relief from some federally-backed mortgages (Sec. 4024).
Provisions for organizations
The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) provided loans to small companies to maintain their payroll. Parts of the loans could be forgiven.
Made $500 billion available in loans or investments to businesses to help them keep paying employees (Sec. 4003).
Provided $100 billion to health care providers for treating COVID.
Gave $25 billion to passenger airline companies and $4 billion to cargo air carriers (Sec. 4112).
Provided support to food banks, farmers, restaurants, schools, and other orgnizations that fight hunger
Other provisions
Mandated a national stockpile of personal protective equipment, medical equipment, diagnostic tests, and vaccines (Sec. 3201).
Created the Office of the Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery (Sec. 4018) and Congressional Oversight Commission (Sec. 4020) to monitor programs under this title. It will be be abolished after 5 years.
