This bill would tax Wall Street speculation
This bill would tax stocks and other speculative investments. Each stock transaction would have a half-percent tax - meaning a $1,000 transaction would be taxed $5. Other types of speculative transactions would taxed at lower rates.
Individuals with incomes less than $50,000 (and married couples with incomes less than $75,000) would receive a tax credit for any tax they were charged.
It would pay for providing free college
Proceeds from this tax would be used to finance the proposed College for All Act.
